And by the way...

My precious came...

I spun this--two plies of blue-faced Leicester. It sucks, and it is lumpy, but it is MINE! ALL MINE! HA!

It doesn't suck. Lumpy is a STYLE I tell you!

If you don't want it for knitting, I'll totally turn it into moppet hair or something.

Well, I did consider dying it blue and using it as obviously fake dreadlocks..but I'm proabably just going to keep it as a "Look at my first thing!" exercise.

*SQUEE!* :-)

It's beautiful! Believe it or not, experienced spinners usually have a hard time getting that Lumpy, bumpy effect, so enjoy it! :-)

*mmmmmm....bluefaced leicester.....*(just gave away the rest of mine to Marve. YAY, new spinners! ;-)

I know that--just like it's hard for a professional singer to go deliberately off-key, or for a good knitter to purposely screw up gauge--and this is the favorite thing that more experienced spinners say to encourage their less-experienced siblings.

I don't want to be as good as a machine (what would be the point?), but better is still better, with more consistent results should I ever actually knit/weave/etc this stuff. *grin*

Once I"m tolerable with pretty boring wool, I'm a-movin' on to my pretty boring alpaca, then to the luxury hanks I have stashed for just such an occasion!

And!

Thank you for the constant encouragement; it helps!

Your BFL kicks the ass of my rambouillet.

I've now done up a second hank (first of a set of three) of targhee (http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/sheep/targhee/index.htm) dyed up by the folks at Mountain Colors (http://www.mountaincolors.com/). Targhee is bred from Rambouillet, so look! Our handspuns are cousins, yay!

The family spinner (aka [livejournal.com profile] laureth) leaned over and said "Ooooh!" to the link of your precious.
