There, I finally have a knittin' icon from my very own knittin'--now I wish I had a good picture of it, but here's a taste (click for short photo gallery with construction details):

Once I get a picture of it I'm proud of, I'll be sending it to Eunny Jang, the pattern designed. When I pointed out a pattern error to her, I mentioned the beads and bells, and she was keen to see how those came off! Yay!

Date: 2007-09-14 05:02 pm (UTC)I take heart in the fact that EZ the Knit-Dís didn't like purl any better than I do, so also did it as little as possible.
Anyway, with a yarn over and a knit two together, you can do any easy lace pattern; the real signifier is how even your gauge is, and how much pattern can you hold in your head at a time.

Date: 2007-09-14 05:45 pm (UTC)*grin* I found it most useful, when trying to maintain an even strain in my first knitted goods, to weave the yarn between my fingers on its way to the needles--much as I did in crochet, much as the thread in my sewing machine.
But, yeah--you won't get better without practice. ;)
[excepting the one girl I met who got spirit-taught to knit, which was a big steaming cup of "WTF!?" all around, made worse by the fact that they had no money for yarn so she could only knit, frog, and recycle for months, and couldn't help herself. stupid compulsions!]
