Not so! I lie! That was Zardoz! This is about Zantaz, which isn't at all the same, starting off with a remarkable lack of any giant flying stone heads!
However, it is in Pleasanton. A giant flying stone head or two might liven things up a bit...
Anyway,
adric00 gave them my resume, and they asked for an interview today, where he and
snowwy both work. I think it went well, but it's shift work, far from home (still BARTable), for an hourly wage (when I do salaries or contracts) and less than I wanted to consider making, with the strong probability that it'll conflict with either Seidhjallr or Hrafnar. It's a strongly Windows environment. There's a piss test, and access to the data requires passing biometric locks.
Well! That makes it violate nearly every guideline I'd set up for what I'll do in a job, except it's still in IT! Obviously, I should tell them to create an origami suppository (possibly involving a giant flying stone head).
I didn't, though. I had a hunch, and it came through a friend who was returning a favor, so I did none of the above and turned on all applicable charm. The hiring manager said she "didn't see any reason not to hire me,", which we're still not sure whether to take as a good sign or a damnation with faint praise.
If nothing else, it'll pull us ahead of several short-term debts, collections of late fees, and other crap, so we can spread around a goodly number of Yule presents. Yay, presents!
