I'm looking for work for the first time in two years -- need to settle some old debts and make sure that [livejournal.com profile] countgeiger can have what I wished him last Yule: some kind of attainable happiness, incarnated as a boat named Amelia.

Got a nibble. 8-)

It's only one bus ride away, too, and firmly in the 510. I'd rather not drive for general environmental responsibility reasons.

It's just the kind of stuff I'm looking for: mixed desktop/server, heterogenous network environment to keep me from getting bored, and not even a whisper of pager duty. Looking at the reqs, it'll pay a lot less than I'm used to, but will also have far, far, less stress.

While computer geekery will probably always be important to me, and I enjoy working in it, it's not my primary joy anymore, and I'm not going to let it eat my life like it did when I worked at Hotmail.

But these folks... they want a phone interview; I gave them two one-hour slots. We'll see what happens!

Good luck; may all go as well as possibly possible, may you be happy with the interview and what it brings, and may the boat be forthcoming as smoothly and wonderfully as possible. Yar!

Motive behind employment-seeking made me think of the quote on the front of this shirt.

Oh, I refer to "messing about in boats" pretty often. For [livejournal.com profile] countgeiger, though, it pretty much is a literal truth...

YAY! Perhaps you should go leave a shot of something tasty in the pissing-bear fountain at Marin Circle. :P

I can tell the IT market is recovering... I got my first headhunter call since 9/11 the other day. Would I like to do an 80-100% travel position for about $30K more than I make now. ("No, thanks.")
