The following domain has been moved:

greyhaven.net

Also, a new domain has been added to the new server:

grendelheim.com

Only one today because I had to figure out the wonders of a new Ecartis installation. Still a bitchin' mailing list manager program, still not documented for shit. Yay!

Currently, grendelheim.org and greyhaven.net are now mirrors of each other, as we expect greyhaven.net to be reaimed at a different server (against the wishes of all Greyhaven denizens involved) Very Soon Now by a dink of the highest order.

The following users have been transferred to the new server:

diana, ian, sam

The following mailing list was moved:

eildon

In other news, I took a large clue-by-four to the server that does backup mail hosting for us -- in the event our server is temporarily down for the count, this server will queue up our mail until we get back. However, it really needed some rudimentary sanity checks, because much of what they were delivering was dictionary-attack spamming runs deliberately aimed at the backup MX server. Obviously it couldn't check our user tables, but "please don't accept mail from people who say they're from provably absurd places" can, and now is being, done.

It's nice to have Full Metal Sudo on your friends' machines when they can trust you to Do the Sane Thing.

Anyway, as usual, if your domain was affected, and something sucks... you know the drill.

If you keep your user tables in LDAP, they probably could check them, and become a real "smart MX". Easy as pie with Postfix and only slightly less (maybe cream pie?) with Sendmail 8.13.

The hard part would be setting up LDAP, which I'm not really willing to do atm, especially not on two machines -- I'm assuming, that the contingency in case of failover is still useful, but it must be or you wouldn't've suggested it.

The admins of the other machine are rather lackadaisical about updates, so I don't want them getting too much information. It sounds like a great idea, though!
