While Monday made an initial strong showing with the promise of lunch with [livejournal.com profile] purplevenus and [livejournal.com profile] dpaxson, those hopes were dashed when, after parking in a convenient space with a broken meter, [livejournal.com profile] lwood noticed that her car, the Trusty Taurus, was copiously leaking a nurglish green fluid that was not in fact Mountain Dew, but rather engine coolant.

Erring on the side of reasonable blood sugar, a fine lunch proceeded to be had by all, but the day was placed On Notice and a written reprimand was issued. An immediate upturn in effort was displayed by Monday, as time spend waiting for the tow truck could be pleasantly spent at a nearby bead store and, while public transit was made a sad necessity, the fact that this happened near a busy transit hub revealed that Monday's position in this week might yet be salvageable.

However, Monday had to be put on written notice a second time around 1830 PM, when [livejournal.com profile] countgeiger had to be admitted to the hospital, [livejournal.com profile] netik got hit by a car while himself operating a bicycle, and one of [livejournal.com profile] purplevenus's charges was, in an unrelated incident, admitted to an entirely different hospital.

The decision to terminate came some time before the action could be carried out. As a result, Monday's strong, if futile, efforts to retain its position in this week are duly and gratefully noted: [livejournal.com profile] lwood, [livejournal.com profile] dpaxson, et al wrapped up the day by bottling approximately 20% of one batch of mead. This mead shows promise in its field, and with the right guidance, should prove a credit to its kind.

Monday was reluctantly terminated from its position shortly before midnight PDT.

Due to Monday's erratic performance, Tuesday, which was promoted to the position based on Monday's strong recommendation, will have to undergo stringent review, especially in the areas of medical performance, postal performance, and bureaucratic detanglements of several and various sorts.

Re: translation: yeah, pretty much, but I also wanted to recognize the not-crap parts of the day. It had nummy lunch AND mead, so while it Had to Go, it certainly had redeeming qualities, you know?

/me writes Tuesday a formal reprimand. snugharbor.com appears to have fallen off the internet.

*hugs* to you both, and I hope things shape up for the better quickly.

We're having the first significant rain of the year (good!), and took out power to the apartment long enough to outrun the UPS.

I had the bedroom door closed last night, so I didn't hear the beeping. *sigh*

Good to know, and I'm glad it was nothing wrong with the box itself. And no worries -- I'm sure you needed your sleep after yesterday!

Do you need backup MX? I need to poke [livejournal.com profile] enochsmiles about getting kairos.deor.org (our slice of a box in Amsterdam) up and running; I'm sure we could do that for you if need be. (Not today, as he's finishing his share of a grant application, but sometime soonish.)

I have backup MX, but I don't know if your domain is configured for it. And, this week, between sick husband and LA...yeah. Not happening.

Ask me about this again in about a week and a half?

No worries a'tall. You focus on [livejournal.com profile] countgeiger and LA; backup MX will happen in its own right time.

*hugs* to you both, and have a wonderful trip!

[livejournal.com profile] countgeiger is sleeping as much as he can, and his temperature is down to normal, what with the fluids and antibiotics. I'll know if the swelling is appreciably reduced when I turn up in a couple hours, and will post an update then.

His temperature's down to normal due to fluids and IV antibiotics. I'll see how the swelling is when I walk over there in a couple hours.

My personal Monday was not only fired, but taken out behind the warehouse and thrashed with a very large stick. Any more days that turn out like my last Monday will not only be fired, but will have their heads messily chopped off and placed on a spike over Corporate HQ entrance, as a warning to other days that might try to pull this kind of shit.

How's your husband doing now? Give him my best regards and wishes for a swift recovery with no insalubrious sequelae.

His temperature's down to normal between the fluids (he was dehydrated) and sundry drugs. I'll know more, and will post an update, in a couple hours once I've walked over there.

Thanks!

If Tuesday doesn't perform better than Monday I suggest immediate termination followed up by a managerial retreat.

Managerial Retreat is what happens if Tuesday and Wednesday do well enough between them that my husband can come home in a repaired car, because then I can still go to LA!

Thanks for the kind thoughts--they're truly appreciated.

I didn't get much sleep last night, but the major worries I had were neck-and-neck "MIKE IS SICK ZOMG!" and "HOW ARE WE PAYING FOR THIS ZOMG!".

Well, the billing minions had it a'splained to them, and said, "Oh! Okay! We'll make a note, don't worry about a thing!" and scurried off. This'll be a COBRA job, but the moment COBRA is paid, it's effective retroactively to 1 October.

So whatever it is, I no longer care. It cannot be more than one COBRA payment, and as I pointed out on my You Should Let Them Admit You, You Blockhead arguments, we'd do that much for the cat.
