Wait! That makes perfect sense!

The X-Men are moving to San Francisco. This makes sense!

Upstate New York was way too prissy for them. I mean, can you imagine Wolverine stalking through [livejournal.com profile] walkyrja's backyard, just a few dozen miles away?

The first few SF issues have already been out for a couple months. Warren Ellis took his X-team (in Astonishing X-Men, which he took over from Joss Whedon, thus ensuring that it'll *still* never come out in a timely fashion) and immediately sent their asses to Southeast Asia on a mission. Matt Fraction and Ed Brubaker seem to be actually trying to incorporate more of San Fran in Uncanny X-Men-- Fraction's been out in CA a few times doing location scouting for X-Men and for the late lamented The Order, which was based in Los Angeles but covered the entire state as part of SHIELD's Fifty State Initiative.

Those are the two main X-books I'm still arsed to read. Dunno what anyone else is doing so far.

Well, I mean...poor Wolverine...

Well, first there is the fact that we Californians tend to deal with different people better than anywhere else(could you see them in Alabama?!?!!!?).
Second, they better be spending a little community service time fixing the Golden Gate Bridge after Magneto bent and stretched it all the way to Alcatraz.
:P

Maybe--if they set up in whatever college town serves as Alabama's Designated Weirdo Reserve (every state has one). Otherwise not so much...

Second, they better be spending a little community service time fixing the Golden Gate Bridge after Magneto bent and stretched it all the way to Alcatraz.

Suddenly, I can imagine Storm as a mighty mighty arc welder: ZAP ZAP ZAP!

That DOES make perfect sense.

Westchester is upstate only to the terminally NYC-centric. It was always a bit suburban to make it believable that the school could be well hidden. Otherwise . . . no, I think they should have gone further upstate. Californicans have too little respect for Serious Old Money and are more likely to pry, in my experience. California has tours of stars' homes ...

Heh--I was so pathetically NYC-centric that I could afford to be dubious of, say, The Bronx.

They're not hiding at all this time--the Not At All Sikrit Base is in the old artillery/Nike/etc batteries in the Marin Headlads, for example.
