Ah! Apparently "over 5" is when Californians start caring about earthquakes! As today's seismic wrasslin' match was four times that (apparently y'all got downgraded from the initial estimate of 5.8--awww), I'm glad to have immediate notification from you guys that you're all right.

Thanks!

I usually start to care around there, yeah. Less then that, and it's...well, mundane.

I care about 4's when they are interesting enough... like several at the same epicenter in a short amount of time.

And the mass-media will mention 3's if it is otherwise a very slow news-day.

In my area, it was barely up to the "whee, that's fun!" threshold.

We had a bunch of people from Tallahassee in a meeting on the sixth floor. They were... entertained.

It reminds me of the old story about a Californian a house guest from out of state. In the middle of the night, the guest woke the host, saying, "I hear noises downstairs -- I think someone's broken into the house."

The host replied, "Go back to sleep,it's just an earthquake."

It was very funny to me, when Seattle had a 3.2 or something ridiculous a few years ago. I'd been in a 5.2 in Valencia (north of LA) and almost enjoyed it except for the bedframe on end that served as wardrobe in our dorm room fell over.

The Seattle reporting was non stop reporting about who lost a teacup off the shelf...
