I Succumbed to Ravelry

...dangit. Just spent too much of my day posting about all my knitting to Ravelry.

Same username as here if you want to read some of the stories behind some of my projects, and then come to wonder WHY on the gods' green earth I have knit 4309785 beaded berets.

I am underwhelmed, though--they won't link to pictures that are anywhere but Flickr, their library doesn't believe in 2/3 of my Nordic Knitting books, and so I'm looking rather...scant.

Enjoy--if you have an invite, that is, as they're closed during beta. It looks like it could be good, if properly developed.

IIRC, your books will come to exist if you post having done a pattern from them.

It really, really doesn't want to admit to having heard of Føroysk Bindingarmynstur--the canonical Faroese Shawl Book, although if I search for "faroese" in patterns it turns something up from it.

*shrug* Is a beta, I expect this. 8-)

I've heard a few nice things about Ravelry. What in your opinion (I ask as someone who can't see it) makes it a neat system?

Well, there's a certain amount of pimp value, I suppose, but basically you are there to share what you've got and what you know with people you know share your interest, and there are tools you can use to show what Pokémon you've caught books, yarn, and other doodads you happen to have.

So it's amusing, but I don't know if it's worth more than just something to toy with just yet.
