Peppers and Catnip!

Well, the Distributed Chili Pepper Project is finally paying off:
...I'm no longer clear on who has which cultivars as all cited plants are among my "second chance" selections. I made sure to leave the tags in, though, so the growers know what they are.
Also, at the Temescal Farmers' Market yesterday, I picked up three pounds of miscellaneous hot peppers--Tabasco, cayenne, and similar. This is called "hedging my bets"; unless I'm suddenly drowning in peppers, I might not have enough by when I need them--on or about 1 January.
My three chilis (two Prik Ki Nue I had sprouted, plus another replacement Thai) have been fostered out to Wyrmholm for the loving care and baking heat that Dublin can provide, subject to the tender mercies of
wolfs_daugher. They're only just now blooming, with heaps and heaps of leaves that are much larger than I'm used to seeing on a nightshade, but the seeds are from a local provider so I have hope that they'll fruit. Farwalker also only has two of his prik ki nue left, but
dpaxson has all three. I'm trying to encourage her to foster hers out to Dublin as well, as all my research indicates that hot weather makes hot peppers.
In other news, I've also started cutting some of the longer catnip stalks and hanging them inverted to dry in my living room as well. We're trying to decide what happens when someone is caught standing under catnip--I'm thinking the penalty should be affectionate cheek-rubbing.

- Two cayenne-type peppers from the plants
wynkat1313 is taking care of for
pearlshadow. These are hanging in Greyhaven's back kitchen.
- Five eetsybeetsy habanero-type chilis from
snowwy and
medancer's plant. These are hanging in my living room. They're smaller and redder than proper habanero, leading me to think that the may, in their little hearts, be tepin.

Date: 2007-09-24 05:38 pm (UTC)Excellent! I'll want to be the one to hang most of these to dry, but just now I don't see myself being able to get out to Dublin for awhile: with one thing and another (and another, and another...).
Ooo! Figs! And they go sooo well with yogurt cheese...

Date: 2007-09-24 06:29 pm (UTC)In other news. I will cancel S&B on Wednesday the third. What BART do I go to for your party?

Date: 2007-09-24 06:41 pm (UTC)Witness my split reaction:
Track One:
YAY! More for my party! You all love me! Come, bask in my glory--depending on how far
Track Two:
...I do want you there--but isn't S&B about you meeting your emotional need to have people come and visit you?
Track Three:
*cough* And yet, most of those who might consider S&B in Dublin will be sore tempted by all you can eat sushi plus ice cream cake, and thus, I am stealing your audience.
Two + Three
GAK! I am taking people away from Sparrow! I am a poor friend, I fail!
Two + Three + a moment to think:
--there are, i'fact, eleven other first Wednesdays, only one of which is my-birfday-dammit. The only time during that whole week to which I could shift the party would be one day earlier. I would also like Sparrow at my party, and given her work schedule, it's always deucedly hard to get her for an evening. Besides, she did offer. I should take this in the spirit of which it was meant, that she likes me and wants to spent time with me.
Therefore, I will accept this offer as one made by a mature adult, cognizant of how one decision ripples out into consequences. However, as part of her processing process, she might appreciate the flowchart, so I'll leave it here.
