Crocheted Eyeballs--Amaze Your Friends!
Mar. 23rd, 2007 09:33 amI just realised this morning that I moofed up what was supposed to be an image tag as an anchor (link) tag.
Here is what I wanted to post:

AND! And and and!
All right, all you crazy Raven, Odin, and relateddogs and cats cats and corvids...let's talk eyeballs.
The pattern makers recommend size 8 perl cotton, with these guys' colorways for the iris. Let me slide some (extremely biased) samples by you:

Degas Blue

Indigo

True Blues
mmmmm eyeballs. with nerves and veins! Yaaaaay!
In Other News...
While taking the Muni 14 down Mission Street en route to the Mad Scientists' Home, I saw a longhaired cat.
On a leash.
At the other end of the leash was the cat's human.
They were going for a walk. The cat was at a heel. The pair were completely blasé about this.
And the bus rolled on...

Of course, looking at the pattern, I realized that it makes no sense whatsoever to me. I'm a gonna have to find a teacher! ;)

You're quite welcome!

Well, I rather liked this book (http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Idiots-Knitting-Crocheting-Illustrated/dp/1592574912)--best introductory knitting book I've yet seen, and it got me warmed up on crochet, too.
Oh, and if you go to worsted weight yarn instead of the relatively fat perl cotton that's advertised, you get something about bowling-ball sized.

Date: 2007-03-23 05:29 pm (UTC)Was it a Maine Coon cat?
no subject
Date: 2007-03-23 05:57 pm (UTC)So I specifically found three good ones; the dilemma would be in deciding which to get...
Was it a Maine Coon cat?
You have your cats, I have mine; big and black, sexy bedroom eyes, and insistent on Helping in any woowoo in my living room.
I love my George.

Date: 2007-03-23 06:05 pm (UTC)And hey, I have a whole tribe of cats, three of whom are black; we've actually come to the conclusion that Zerk and Val are more likely part Persian than part Maine Coon, because of the plush, thick fur of even the short-haired cats in that family (actually, medium-haired is more accurate) in that family, plus the color variety). I was only wondering if the cat on a leash was a Maine Coon, since you said he was long-haired.
Not that I've ever, you know, succeeded in getting ANY of my cats to walk on a leash, to date.

*facesmack* D'oh! I forgot about that already. It was not a Maine Coon, I don't think. Dark, big but not HUGE, and fluffy. Not Persian, but rather short of snout.

Nor mine. However, they do all know their names, and George reliably comes when called.

Date: 2007-03-23 08:53 pm (UTC)They're YARN. Yarn is not JUICY. Well... not yet, anyway. Someday, maybe they will come out with juicy yarn.
After all they figured out how to get soup in dumplings...

And they said the Shanghainese were mad! MAD I TELL YOOOOU!

Date: 2007-03-24 09:01 pm (UTC)The Shanghainese may be mad but the Hong Kongers are simply barking... I mean, honey walnut shrimp? And instead of corndogs, you can get corn-battered fish balls in Hong Kong, which are really tasty but cause mental implosion. ("But it's a corn dog!" "But it's an OCTOPUS TENTACLE." "But it's a CORN DOG!" "But it's an OCTOPUS TENTACLE.")
...
O_o
"You got your octopus tentacle in my corn dog batter!" "No, you got your corn dog batter on my octopus tentacle!" "Mmmmmmm!"

I'll have to tell Talsorin about the cat - every now and then he claims it would be amusing to try to walk our cats on leashes. I wonder what he'll think when he knows it can actually be done.

Coulda been worse, I coulda posted pics of the severed, oogy-looking, fingers that said lady also does...
I miss him lots, even decades later. He lived to the grand old age of 20.
Hail the beloved dead!
