You are a dog
Or maybe you are a mosquito, you certainly can't be human.

The highest pitched ultrasonic mosquito ringtone that I can hear is 21.1kHz
Find out which ringtones you can hear!

Now, that was:

1) With my Mac's output volume cranked.
2) My external speakers set quite loudly.
3) My ear to the speaker.
4) Confusing to Cats.

My little Sony earhooks apparently lose their high-frequency response around 18KHz--but my externals are reasonably high quality, if several years old, Altec-Lansings and had no problem.

I missed my calling--obviously I should have been Flipper's secretary. 8-P

I don't know if I couldn't hear things because my speakers suck, or because I can't hear it. I suspect some of each...

Yeah, I got my best results with good speakers or headphones, with all possible volumes cranked. With all settings at normal levels, I can only get up to 16.7KHz.

I got to 16.7, but it was more like something piercing my brain than actually hearing it. Ouch.

Yep. Or, as college roommate [livejournal.com profile] camwyn put it:

You don't hear those tones with your ears, you hear them WITH THE BACK OF YOUR SKULL.
