This may, or may not, be anyone's particular cup of tea. I'm posting this because it is of interest to several broad subcategories of my friends list, the authors Know Their Shit, and I'm finally growing past the feeling that I shouldn't post anything particularly spiritual to my LiveJournal.

So:

Information on ordering Dark Moon Rising: Pagan BDSM & the Ordeal Path by Raven Kaldera can be found at:

Comments screened in case anyone wants to be Ranty McRantyPants about the very idea of a pagan BDSM book.

I've been riding synchronicity waves lately. That's the second reference to Raven Kaldera and Ordeal Paths in half an hour, from completely unrelated sources.

He's definitely got a lot of people interested in what he's up to, that's for sure.

This person (don't know gender) was talking about how they'd had the good fortune to be taken through an important ritual bloodletting by Raven at an Ordeal Mastery training session.

I replied with "Really? Raven is a friend of my teachers... Small world."

I don't know that I know RK well enough to say "friend", although that *was* an intense weekend last year at Keepers' Crossing and I'm careful about how I use that term--but definitely "colleague".

Now if I could get any more of our people to see that his crazy is, or can be, fairly compatible with our particular crazy, there could be some interesting synergy there. The incompatible parts make it pulling teeth, though. *headdesk*

Networking! It's what's for dinner!

And lunch!

And breakfast!

And...well, okay, it's what's for me. 8-P

Eh, all I did was cull from publically available sources, such as Wikimedia/pedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Raven) and Flickr's Raven Pool (http://www.flickr.com/groups/ravens/pool/), and a coule delightful sites full of public domain photos: pdpics.org (http://www.pdpics.org/) and one featuring Your Tax Dollars at Work (http://dls.fws.gov/default.cfm). While most of what I found is public domain, or released under suitably relaxed license (GPL, Creative Commons, etc) some of the pics I cached are under normal copyright protection, so I probably shouldn't compound my sins against intellectual property...

On the other hand, you now know where I got all mine, so there's absolutely nothing stopping you from flapping right on over there and applying beak and talons as you see fit.

Savvy?

I'm looking forward to that one on a friend's behalf; she picked up Carnal Alchemy and didn't find it suitable to her needs. I'd found a review of it by [livejournal.com profile] teriel that seemed to share her concerns-- that CA failed to address psychological methods and issues in any depth-- so I'm hoping he and Lupa have something more applicable up their collective sleeves. :)

I strongly suspect they will. [livejournal.com profile] teriel's talked to me about his disappointment with the sources out there for dealing with the psychological potential of the path. It seems to me that it would be a very important aspect, and to neglect it would be to ignore or dismiss a powerful tool.

That does sound interesting, on many levels. Neat thanks.
