Transparent Aluminum!
Oct. 18th, 2005 04:09 amYes, when you're trying to make off with humpback whales in your very own Klingon Bird of Prey, transparent aluminum is well-known as the only substance capable of holding back the immense pressure of the water pressing against the side of the tank.
Yet, aside from one small SF firm and their one special commission, this amazing substance in its 20th and 21st century fabrications has not been seen outside the HMS Bounty, now on display at the Federation Air and Space Museum.
Until... now.
