Madeline L'Engle, Dead at 88
Sep. 7th, 2007 12:02 pmThe mother of several of my dear childhood friends just died.
My friends--you knew them, I think. Many of you did.
Sandy and Dennys, Meg, Charles Wallace, their parents the Doctors Murry--to say nothing of Calvin O'Keefe and the Mrs W's: Whatsit, Who, and Which.
( As Copied and Pasted from her NYT Obit )
"Why does anybody tell a story?" Ms. L'Engle once asked, even though she knew the answer.
"It does indeed have something to do with faith," she said, "faith that the universe has meaning, that our little human lives are not irrelevant, that what we choose or say or do matters, matters cosmically."
Just so.
